Olivier Frendo

Managing Director

  • Olivier has 21 years investment banking experience,  19 of which focused on Africa. 
  • Prior to co-founding FCP in October 2021, Olivier was a senior Managing Director and Head of Investment Banking at Goldman Sachs for Sub-Saharan Africa, responsible for managing the investment banking operations with teams based in Johannesburg and London. Olivier has led some of Goldman Sachs’ most complicated transactions in Sub-Saharan Africa. 
  • Olivier launched the Africa Economic Revolution Fund in 2017, an impact initiative to fund disruptive businesses in Africa. 
  • From 2001 – 2010, Olivier worked at J.P. Morgan in London and Johannesburg. 
  • In 2008, Olivier was seconded to Tony Blair’s Africa Governance Initiative in Sierra Leone.
  • Fun fact: Olivier lived in Freetown, Sierre Leone for six months and enjoyed snorkelling in Banana Island.

Managing Director

  • Christian has 21 years investment banking experience, 13 of which was spent in Africa, 4 in the Middle East and another 4 years in London.
  • Prior to co-founding FCP in October 2021, Christian was a senior Managing Director and Head of M&A, Middle East & Africa, for Standard Chartered where he was based in Dubai. He was responsible for managing the bank’s regional M&A business, with on-the-ground teams in Dubai, Johannesburg and Lagos.
  • In 2012, Christian was promoted to Managing Director and was appointed Head of Sub-Saharan Africa M&A in 2014.
  • Christian was later awarded additional responsibility for the Middle East region in 2016.
  • Christian has also served as Chairman of Standard Chartered Capital and Advisory.
  • Prior to Standard Chartered, Christian was with Goldman Sachs from 2007 to 2009 and Morgan Stanley from 2001 to 2006.
  • Fun fact: Christian has travelled from Cape Town to Cairo in a Land Rover.

Managing Director

  • Daniel has 21 years corporate finance experience, of which 16 years was spent in Africa and 8 in London. 
  • Prior to co-founding FCP in October 2021, Daniel was a Managing Director and Head of Capital Markets – Africa, for Standard Chartered where he was responsible for managing the bank’s regional Capital Markets businesses (including loans, bonds and strategic derivatives), with on-the-ground teams in London, Johannesburg and Lagos.
  • He also managed the bank’s Financial Markets Sales and Marketing team for Sub-Saharan Africa, located across 6 countries. 
  • From 1998 to 2012, Daniel was Head of Capital Markets for Sub-Saharan Africa and Client Coverage Executive at JP Morgan. 
  • Daniel worked as an Independent Debt Advisor from 2017-2021 and has co-founded several start-ups. 
  • He is an Endeavor mentor and advisory board member to portfolio companies. 
  • Fun fact: Daniel has completed 4 Comrades, 11 Two Oceans and over 45 marathons.

Senior Advisor (Egypt)

  • Ms Sadek’s career encompasses more than two decades of working in leading roles in Egypt and Europe. Her last role was the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and co-founder of H.A Utilities (HAU), as well as Managing Director (MD) of Lightsource BP JV co in Egypt.
  • Ms Sadek lead the establishment of HAU with the vision of setting up Egypt and the Region’s largest Utilities development, investment and financing vehicle for renewable energy, water desalination and treatment, logistics, transportation and warehousing, waste to energy and green investments. The largest investors in HAU included Hassan Allam Holding, Egypt’s oldest EPC contractor and one of the largest players in the market today, as well as foreign Infrastructure and enterprise funds.
  • Ms Sadek lead the efforts to establish very strong Joint ventures with the best-in-class global players in the various sectors that HAU was involved in. Selected partners include Lightsource BP, a 50% owned subsidiary of British Petroleum (BP) and Almar Water Solutions, a 100% owned subsidiary of Abdul Latif Jameel.
  • Ms Sadek also concluded acquisitions that put HAU on the map in various sectors. She was acting CEO for Ridgewood group, Egypt’s largest private desalination company.
  • Most recently, Ms Sadek has assumed various independent board seats and advisory roles. This includes being a board member in Al Futtaim Group Supervisory Board, a Board and audit committee member in publicly listed Lecico Group, and a board member in Blnk Finance since its inception.
  • Menatalla is also currently acting as an independent Senior Advisor to African Infrastructure Investment Managers (AIIM), a member of Old Mutual Alternative Investments (OMAI) with a current AUM of more than USD2.6 billion.
  • In November 2022, Ms Sadek co-founded Egycop, Egypt’s first Carbon offset company which was launched in COP27, and she is a Board member in MGM Climate Business Developers.
  • Her previous board roles also include being one of the first female board member in The International Desalination Association (IDA) as well as her role as a board member in Lightsource BP-HAU, Taqa Solar, AA Water Developments, International Company for Water, Ridgewood group and Shabakat. Menatalla also acted as the Co-Chair of the Women in Business Committee (WIB) at the American Chamber of Commerce.
  • Before her role as CEO of HAU, Ms Sadek was Chief Investment Officer of one of the Region’s largest Automotive and non-bank Financing Institutions, GB Auto. Menatalla lead the investment, business development and strategy teams, directed the Investor Relations department of the publicly listed entity in Cairo and New York, managed the strategy of the group as well as the efforts to transform the group into the most profitable non-bank finance institution in Egypt in the fields of Leasing, consumer financing, micro-financing and fintech, to start with.
  • Ms Sadek’s career also encompasses roles in Beltone Financial, Standard & Poor’s Rating in Stockholm, Sweden and Barclays Bank’s Corporate Team.
  • Ms Sadek is a CFA Charterholder and was a founding member of the CFA Societies of Sweden and Egypt, where she was also a Board member.
  • Driven to help Egyptian companies reach their full potential particularly sustainable businesses, large employers and exporters.
  • Fun fact: She can deadlift about 3x her body weight. She was looking for a career in Martial arts after being training kung-fu for nearly 2 decades but ended up in a banking/finance career with top managerial roles instead!

  • Raylene has over 15 years working experience in transformation, enterprise and supplier development, travel, hospitality, event management and office administration. 
  • Raylene completed the BBBEE- Management development programme from the University of Witwatersrand and Institute of Marketing Management.
  • ‘Partnering to make a true and measurable impact and creating visible change to contribute to economic growth’. 
  • Fun fact: A mom of a pigeon pair of twins, a florist and an avid dancer.
Buhle
  • Buhle has over 5 years of experience in corporate finance and investment banking, including transactions across sectors including industrials, logistics, financial services, FMCG, mining and retail. Prior to joining FCP, Buhle worked in corporate finance, specialising in M&A, advisory and private equity.
  • Buhle holds a Bachelor of Business Science Finance and Accounting (Hons) from the University of Cape Town and has completed CFA level III.
  • ‘Passionate about social impact and Africa as well as being apart of a team involved in accelerating the realisation of the continent’s full potential.
  • Fun fact: Avid tennis player who’s always up for a challenge!

  • Obey has 2+ years post qualification experience as a Junior Corporate Finance Transactor in M&A advisory and BEE transactions within the healthcare and general manufacturing sectors. 
  • Obey has completed his Master of Commerce in Finance from University of the Witwatersrand Johannesburg.
  • ‘The satisfaction of creating something from nothing, more so, if it preserves the planet for my posterity’.
  • Fun fact: My preaching skills at church mirror my desire to “convert” transactions!

  • Started her career at Standard Bank South Africa within their business banking team, in 2020 she joined EY South Africa Strategy and Transaction team with a focus on Corporate Finance Mergers and Acquisitions.
  • Bachelor of Business Science majoring in Finance from the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal and a certified Financial Modeling and Valuation Analyst (FMVA).
  • ‘Driven to make a difference, by seeing things differently and to be a part of transactions that positively impact the growth of Africa’.
  • Fun fact: Bungee jumped off Bloukrans Bridge South Africa which is the highest commercial natural bungee jump in the world.

  • Victor joined FCP in December 2021.
  • He holds a Masters in Investment Banking and Capital Markets from IESEG School of Management and a Bachelors in Business Administration from Groupe Excelia La Rochelle.

  • Fun fact: Rockstar kite surfer.

  • Tshegofatso graduated from the University of Johannesburg with a BCom Honours in Investment Management and joined FCP in February 2022 as a graduate analyst.

  • Prior to joining FCP, Ricardo worked as a junior buy-side equity analyst for 13 months evaluating and compiling fund performance and risk metric reports of portfolios with a primary focus on the telecommunication and food sectors.
  • Ricardo holds a Bachelor of Commerce honours degree in Business Finance from the University of Pretoria.

  • Fun fact: Black belt in Krav Maga.

  • Prior to joining FCP, she worked in wealth advisory at PSG Wealth and as a Private Banking Analyst at RMB Private Bank.
  • She holds a Bachelor of Business Science in Finance and Accounting (Hons) from the University of Cape Town, as well as a Postgraduate Diploma in Finance from the University of the Witwatersrand.

  • Fun fact: She has recently taken up boxing.

  • Judd has completed internships at VAT IT, Investec Bank, Standard Bank, and Nitinol Capital.
  • He holds a Bachelor of Business Science in Finance and Accounting (Hons) from the University of Cape Town. Graduated with distinction in Finance.
